Carlos Florey-Founding member, a father, outdoor educator.Carlos grew up in the western U.S. climbed his first 14,000 ft peak when he was 8 and has been climbing peaks ever since.He was in the first wave of "tele" skiers and mountain bikers of the late 70s as well as a whitewater river and Mountain guide. A "jack of all trades"airshow stuntman to owning a mountain sports shop and doing "historic cabin restoration work" in the Bob Marshall Wilderness.Carlos has mentored his outdoor skills and love of nature with no risk and at risk kids for decades.
Karen South-Founding member, a grandmother, ER nurse, outdoors lady.Karen's love of the outdoors and nature is matched only by her love of kids. She is looking forward to the opportunity to inspiring them through adventure and simplicity and lots of laughs. She currently lives in Northwest Montana but grew up in Indiana. From the time Karen found a postcard from Colorado she yankered to live in the mountains and fulfilled that dream early in life. Besides her love of outdoors she has had the opportunity to be a nurse for 34 years including flight nursing in Colorado and Montana. Karen gained great backcountry experience and respect through this aspect of nursing care in the wilderness with rescues in all seasons and all ages. She is looking forward to sharing her knowledge and experience with the youth of today by encouraging them to unplug and replugging into nature.
Carter met Karen in the summer of 2011 and told her "Hey, I directed a non-profit just like YAKiN for 6 years in Colorado. Lets talk."
